We're attempting to migrate development to Apache. From a user's standpoint,
unless you care about the licensing, I don't think such a move would matter
too much. Lucy is starting with an import of the entire KinoSearch codebase.
Nothing changes except the license and the namespace.

(Lucy used to be a separate project, a collaboration between people who had
written different C ports of Lucene, but it was rebooted in July to be based
on KinoSearch.)

This is an easy call. Use KinoSearch -- it exists. Lucy doesn't have any
releases yet.

If things work out with Lucy (and we're looking good), KinoSearch will go into
maintenance mode, and most new development will happen at Apache under the new
namespace. If not, then probably there won't be much change from how things
are done today. No matter what, I anticipate a long life ahead for the
project.
