There is an outstanding indexing bug which has affected one user with very
large indexes, and which I have not been able to duplicate locally. That was
with svn trunk, but it wouldn't surprise me if the bug affects the current
devel release. We hope to tickle that bug with some very large indexes we'll
be building here in the near future.
The other known issue with svn trunk involves the Highlighter, which doesn't
always select the proper excerpt. That wouldn't affect the dev release on

I don't have a fixed answer for that. I can say that my present employer,
Eventful, wants the benefits of a proper release, and wants to see that
release ASAP. They also want me to finish a C API, for similar reasons.
However, Eventful also has a suite of features set that I have to implement
first, all relating to near-instantaneous updates. That's where most of my
time is being spent right now.
